Manchester’s
own Anglo-American band Blind Atlas will release their debut album Kodiak
Bear on
the 18th June 2012. The same day they perform live in session for
‘Whispering’ Bob Harris’s BBC Radio 2 show.
The
album launch gig takes place on Wednesday 20th June at the Kings
Arms in Salford (doors
7:30pm). Special guests include Jo Dudderidge and Adam
P. Gorman (Travelling Band) with additional performances from African Drummers and a string quartet.
Brother Moon will be the lead radio track from the
album with another beautiful animation from collaborator Volkerfirma who have
also animated a video for the title track Kodiak Bear.
When it comes to influences Blind Atlas will offer up the proverbial mixed bag,
citing everyone from
Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones to Calexico, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and the Grateful Dead. Hailing from Denver [Colorado USA] and disparate
points around the UK, Blind Atlas came together in the bohemian suburbs of
south Manchester; united by a shared preoccupation with drinking, failed
relationships and the Flying Burrito Brothers.
