Genuinely saddened to hear this news. The Miserable Rich have been one of my favourite bands of the last few years, since first hearing "The Boat Song" live on Marc Riley's 6 music show. I've seen the guys on a number of occasions in Manchester, a city which has become almost a second home and also enjoyed a couple of highly entertaining chats with lead singer James.
If you're anywhere near London, Brighton or Brockenhurst on the dates below, get along and see one of Britains most unique and refreshing outfits.
Hopefully the break won't be too long and they'll be back, raring to go in some shape or form. Good luck fellas and all the best, wherever life takes you next.
Big emotional send-off gigs in London and Brighton
this Autumn
Hullo, friends and supporters old and new -
and welcome back to the miserable newsletter....
and what a tricky one it is to write....
After a busy Summer of making new friends, festivaling
and radio sessioning, a busier year of touring and promoting, and an
even busier 5 years of writing, recording and releasing records between
tours, the merry Team Miserable is due a break........
A change is as good as a
rest, they say, and in our case, we may well need both - so with happy
but sentimental hearts, the band are preparing to play their last three
gigs - for now - in London and Brighton, as well as a lovely little place in the New Forest - over the coming few months.
Fear not, for change is inevitable and
we are sure that, should the demand and the desire coincide, we will play again some shiny day in the future.
In what form we friends will play, however,
we cannot say.
Never say never, indeed.
So - come along to the
shows you can make - help us to make it a joyously Miserable send-off -
and hear us thank you for all your support, in the best way we know
how.....

OK, folks.
That would seem to be it for now from Miserable Towers. But we wouldn't leave you empty hearted, would we now?
So here's a cover of
Kylie's All The Lovers, in a Penguin Cafe style, courtesy of one of our
much appreciated Pledgers from last year, who bought it for his
girlfirend as a very special Chrimbo pressie
We hope you enjoy it as
much as we did making it - in a Swiss club the day after a hell of a
drink up - and that you can make it along to the upcoming shows. We'll be throwing ourselves into these ones like never before.
Join us and tear a hole in the night
James and Team Miserable
