So, pt 3 of the 100 albums better than Oasis and let's start with.......
Biffy Clyro - Puzzle
The album which catapulted the Biff into the public conscience. Simon Neil at his most deep and personal.
The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You
Less of the bluegrass and more leanings towards country rock from The Avetts, making them more accessible. Extremely heartfelt lyrically, as you would expect.
Shining - Blackjazz
An amalgamation of metal and jazz just can't work.......surely........Shining prove it certainly can.
The Bronx - Mariachi El Bronx
Hardcore punk band turn into a mariachi band with fabulous results and lose none of the lyrical intensity.
The Burns Unit - Side Show
Folk supergroup, including Mr Scottish folk himself, Kenny Anderson. Brilliant mixture of styles.
Dinosaur Pile-up - Growing Pains
A return to grunge with Matt Bigland, whilst utilising strong pop sensibilities.
Elbow - Asleep in the Back
The debut and still for me the best Elbow album. Darker and more intense than more recent recordings and all the better for it.
Muse - Origin of Symmetry
Modern day prog rock at it's best. Bombastic, of course, but also the heaviest and most consistent album by Muse.
Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood
One of the great debuts, country punk with a real swagger they've not produced since.

A beautifully melodic album from a Manchester band, with again, very personal lyrics. Just gorgeous.

100 albums recorded since 2000 better than Oasis. Pt 2.
Kvelertak - KvelertakNorwegian hardcore with a wonderfully melodic aspect. The fact the lyrics are in their native language matters not a jot.
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Intensely passionate and anthemic indie.
Opeth - Damnation
A gorgeously understated album from the prog metal giants. Just beautiful music.
Archie Bronson Outfit - Derdang Derdang
Raw and visceral with primal beats. Fantastic stuff.
The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
Raw, although on occasions subtle and heartfelt blues from Jack and Meg, with additional folk and country influence. The album which really drew me into the weird and wonderful White Stripes world.
First Aid Kit - The Big Black and the Blue
Melodic heart wrenching folk, with wonderful female harmonies.
Brakes - Give Blood
A brilliantly diverse album, ranging from punk to country to disco and back, inclusive equal amounts anger and humour. Tom White says more in a matter of seconds, than Noel Gallagher during a whole album.
Bo Ningen - Bo Ningen
An album which took a little corner of ITunes Ping by storm. Crazy Japanese psychedelic noise, which again, the native language doesn't affect in the slightest.
Pulled Apart by Horses - Pulled Apart by Horses
More melodic hardcore, this time from Leeds, with an injection of Yorkshire humour.
Blanche - If We Can't Trust The Doctors
Gothic country from the most eccentric of Detroit bands, with Jack White's mate, Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs) on bass. Deeply dark and sinister.

Talanas Live Review

100 albums recorded since 2000 which are infinitely better than Oasis.
After making a possibly slightly rash comment yesterday, during a heated debate about Noel Gallagher, I've decided I need to put my money where my mouth is. Starting today, I'll provide a list of 100 albums produced since 2000 by separate artists, which are better than anything Oasis have produced in a longer, 15 year time span. Basically, anything they've recorded since their last half decent album "What's the Story Morning Glory."
Each of these albums I feel contains at least one, although in most cases numerous attributes which far outweigh material produced by Oasis, which include more intensity, passion, technical ability, invention, variety, lyrically or melodically superior.....basically, just......much better than one of the most overrated bands in the history of music.
The list is not in any particular order and due to time, I'll post 10 albums at a time.
Day 1 of 100 albums better than Oasis and although in general there won't be a theme, I'll start with 10 from this year.
Talanas - The Waspkeeper
Progressive Death Metal at it's most subtle and brutal in equal parts.
Woods - Sun and Shade.
Great variety of styles, there tends to be more invention in the last ten seconds of any Woods song than anything Oasis have produced in a long, long time.
Tom Williams and the Boat - Too Slow
Lyrically incredibly strong, including a real intensity in tracks like "Get Older" or "See My Evil"
The Travelling Band - Screaming is Something
Although harmonious folk / country based, The Travelling Band incorporate some real rock influence, producing some of the most melodic, passionate songs around.
The Arctic Monkeys - Suck it and See
Although more understated than earlier work, The Arctic Monkeys continue to grow as musicians and in Alex Turner, have a modern day urban poet.
Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Anybody who feels that Oasis in any way compare to the invention and constant push to progress of Radiohead is an idiot as far as I'm concerned.
P.J Harvey - Let England Shake
The Queen of indie music, lyrically astute and musically inventive. Anybody who feels etc, etc........
Akron / Family - S/T II : The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT
The most accessible of Akron / Family's albums, mixing incredible musicianship within a mass of styles. Outstanding.
Josh T Pearson - Last of the Country Gentlemen
The emotion within both the music and lyrics of Josh T Pearson on this album is just breathtaking
James Blake - James Blake
Although live, James Blake is a non event, with his debut album he creates dense dubstep soundscapes, with the added bonus of an emotive, fragile vocal. Intense and gorgeous.
