DAMNATION FESTIVAL TO CURATE STAGE AT ARCTANGENT

Seminal British metallers EARTHTONE9 will headline a stage dedicated to some of the UK's heaviest and most experimental bands as a 'Day of Damnation' is hosted at ArcTanGent.

The minds behind the country's most uncompromising day of metal, Damnation Festival, have teamed up with the organisers of England's newest weekender, ArcTanGent, to curate a stunning and diverse bill on Friday, August 30.

Liverpool's ungodly wall of noise DRAGGED INTO SUNLIGHT, the soundscapes of re-formed BOSSK, post-metal brilliance of DEVIL SOLD HIS SOUL and atmospheric black metal of WINTERFYLLETH will also feature on the hand-picked bill of talent with HUMANFLY, MANATEES and ASTROHENGE setting the standard by opening proceedings on the day.

The Day of Damnation will compliment an awe-inspiring bill at the Bristol event, with past Damnation favourites; Rolo Tomassi, Blacklisters, And So I Watch You From Afar, Maybeshewill and Talons also lining up alongside headliners 65daysofstatic and Fuck Buttons.

Damnation organiser Gavin McInally: “ArcTanGent is already shaping up to be one of the best weekends of the summer and we're delighted to host a Day of Damnation at its inaugural event - handpicking eight acts who have previously graced our stages and left carnage in their wake.

“Although Damnation is predominantly a metal festival, we do venture into the world of post-rock, progressive and experimental music too so there is a natural crossover with ArcTanGent.

“And with Damnation camped in a cold Leeds each November and ArcTanGent enjoying a sunnier weekend in Bristol this August, the events will complement each other and we hope fans will make it along for both festivals.”

Gavin added: “We are looking forward to digging out our tents - if ArcTanGent is run as smoothly as its sister festival, 2000trees, with the line-up it now has in place – it's going to be incredible!”

Other acts confirmed to perform at ArcTanGent include Future of the Left, Three Trapped Tigers, Islet, TTNG, The Pirate Ship Quintet, Bo Ningen, Tall Ships, Gallops, Johnny Foreigner, Turbowolf, Arcane Roots, Castrovalva, Brontide, That Fucking Tank and The Physics House Band.

ArcTanGent co-founder James Scarlett, said: “A few of us went to Damnation Festival for the first time last year and thought it was truly awesome. The quality of their line up and the atmosphere of the whole festival was top class, so I’m bursting with excitement that we’ve been able to organise this partnership.

“ArcTanGent is all about giving festival goers something a bit different and pushing more leftfield, experimental music, so this announcement with Damnation fits perfectly with our ethos but brings a new, heavier edge. Bring on the summer!”

ArcTanGent takes places from 29th – 31st August at a farm location 10 miles south of Bristol. Tickets are strictly limited to 5,000 and are on sale now priced at £59 (including two nights camping).

CREATING COSMIC CLARITY FROM WITHIN THE ILLUSION - AN INTERVIEW WITH THE PHOENIX EXPERIMENT.

After an initial meeting with Mike Bee of The Phoenix Experiment last year as the band unfurled from the relatively recent demise of The 66, it seemed only right and proper to catch up with the intergalactic nomad of the inner cosmos once more upon the release of debut EP “Black Light Satellite,” and witnessing first hand, the sheer explosion of light and sound which constitutes the sense obliterating live Phoenix shows. If there’s a superior way of experiencing psychedelic apparitions and sonic meteor storms without the use of mind altering chemicals, I’m yet to find it.

THE PHOENIX EXPERIMENT - DEBUT EP RELEASED

Those cosmic space rangers The Phoenix Experiment have unleashed their debut EP 'Black Knight Satellite' downloadable for free (or pay what thou will) via their bandcamp site.
There's a definite technological swing to these new recordings, the blues based guitar of earlier demos enhanced and substituted by an emphasis upon swirling psychedelic electronica. Allow yourself teleportation to a futuristic nether world, accompanied by barbed lyrical references to the constant degradation of our own planet.

Come Judgement Day, I'm heading to the Lodge..........
