Chris Stocks (www.chrisstocks.com) is delighted to release his latest single ‘Our Time’ exclusively on iTunes on 20th August 2012 with all proceeds going to renowned charity Cancer Research UK www.cancerresearchuk.org.

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/our-time-single/id547254439

It is accompanied by the official video featuring former Coronation Street actor and West End performer Bill Ward along with exciting young actresses Laura Carter and Samantha Cunningham.

The video has been written & produced by IGUN Pictures www.igunpictures.com

The story of a man and woman experiencing an all too familiar story, this darkly shot video is haunting and beautiful in equal measure. A film that stays with the viewer long after watching, it sits perfectly with the powerful track.

EVERYONE KNOWS SOMEONE….

Everybody has been affected by Cancer at some point in their lives, whether it is battling the illness itself or having to watch a loved one go through the struggle. Cancer has touched everyone
involved in this production, and for some of the crew the suffering is very recent. As a group we wanted to raise money for something that has the biggest impact on the largest group of people and we are proud to contribute to the already sterling work done by Cancer Research UK.

“To be asked to go on the road with not only such eminent figureheads but the band that provide such a huge influence on our sound is nothing short of mindblowing. As what will undoubtedly be the best dressed tour that Europe will have seen this decade, we look forward to destroying each & every stage as politely as possible.”

TALANAS recently re-entered the London’s Berry Street Studio to commence pre-production for their next album ‘daylight’, the follow-up to 2011’s ‘the waspkeeper’ (released through Eulogy Media) which appeared in the ‘Best Albums’ lists of over 12 separate publications that year including Metal Hammer, Classic Rock Presents Prog & Rock Hard (FR) and which The Guardian newspaper commented as having been overlooked for a Mercury Music Prize [http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/jul/22/alexis-petridis-metal-mercury-prize].

Prior to the My Dying Bride tour, TALANAS will also embark on their own full headline tour of the UK & Ireland throughout November with main support provided by Manchester prog metallers Spires [www.spiresband.co.uk]. Dates are currently being confirmed through Eulogy Media.

THE VIRGINMARYS DEAD MAN’S SHOES The New Single, 1st October 2012

One of Manchester's finest and most underrated bands, The Virginmarys celebrate a worldwide deal with DoubleCross Records by announcing their first release for the label on 1st October. ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’ is the perfect taster for the band’s debut album, ‘King Of Conflict’.

Having spent the last two years touring extensively, supporting the likes of Eagles Of Death Metal, Slash, Ash, We Are Scientists and Skunk Anansie, repeated headline club tours and appearances at Download and Sonisphere it’s little wonder that the likes of Kerrang have already started to fall for their ‘attitude spitting guitars’. Altsounds suggested of one show ‘they own the stage so much right now I doubt anyone would blink an eye if they took it home with them’. Such extensive touring fulfilled two of the trio’s aims, to create their own fan base away from the full glare of media hype and to make sure that they were battle ready when they recorded ‘King Of Conflict’; laying down the album live under the watchful eyes of Toby Jepson and Chris Sheldon (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, etc). Given that they have already sold out London’s Garage as an unsigned band and that the forthcoming debut album is a contender for rock record of 2013, mission accomplished on both fronts.

For those playing catch up, ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’, according to bassist Matt Rose, ‘encompasses exactly what The Virginmarys are about, it’s the ultimate Virginmary’s tune’. Concerned with self-delusion, singer and lyricist Ally describes it as a song about ‘knowing what you do is damaging but doing it anyway’.  The song melds a furious rock track to a dark story.
The Virginmarys are the first signing to Cooking Vinyl’s new imprint DoubleCross. Phil Hopwood, A&R man for the label is thrilled to sign the trio :
‘The Virginmarys are incredible songwriters and live performers and we are very proud to be working with them. They have a high level of intensity and we feel they have the potential to be a huge international act’.

An interview with THE GRAMOTONES

Highly entertaining chat with a fantastic new band from the North West.......The Gramotones. Starting to make a name for themselves locally, and within well respected circles due to a keen ear for hook laden, 60's based, harmonious pop songs in classic English style.

It's becoming a cliche, but Mudkiss have been incredibly busy once again over the last couple of months, just check out the updates at the link below.  You'll find details of the Mudkiss Show case night in October at The Railway Venue, Bolton which features The Phoenix Experiment, Dressing for Pleasure, Chris Fox (Kindest of Thieves lead vocalist / guitarist acoustic set) and Master of Ceremonies, Les Glover. Guaranteed to be a brilliant night of new, alternative music and just a measly fiver on the door.

 http://www.mudkiss.com/apps/blog/show/17074756-july-august

Also in the updates, you'll find the usual entertaining in-depth interviews, a comprehensive singles round up from Chumki, August albums reviews, reports from The Warrington Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival plus live reviews featuring The Stone Roses, Morrissey and exciting new band No Ceremony ///  amongst others.

On a more distressing note, Mudkiss friend and Warrington musician Daniel Rimmer passed away last week at far too young an age. Lead singer with The 66, before forming new band White Vinyl earlier this year, Daniel will be sorely missed, our sympathies extended to all his friends and family.

MUDKISS ALBUM OF THE MONTH - ANURYZM

My Mudkiss album of the month, an absolute ripper of a Progressive Metal album, with a Middle Eastern slant, Anuryzm, "Worms Eye View,"

"Throughout “Worms Eye View,” song structures are seamlessly interlinked, time changes and moods negotiated effortlessly,  Porcupine Tree and, especially Opeth influences apparent"

The Cubical - Rag Time Army

You really can't beat a bit of filthy psychedelic blues, which The Cubicle provide in copious quantities.  Here's a fantastic example "Rag Time Army" inclusive abstract video with a tremendous cameo performance from the pig.

"Rag Time Army" is taken from The Cubicles second album "It Ain't Human" released last year and reviewed on Mudkiss here : http://www.mudkiss.com/andysoctalbums.htm

New track from MUMFORD & SONS "I WILL WAIT"

Mumford and Son release a new track "I Will Wait" from forthcoming album "Babel" due on September 24th.   It's a rousing banjo driven piece of almost bluegrass country, no great deviation from earlier material, but after the phenomenal of the debut album, why would they.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME - "TELOS"

As phenomenal a piece of metal as I've heard in quite some time. Intensely crushing opening, technically brilliant, every instrument playing it's part to the full, throw in an atmospheric sprinkling of acid jazz, a liberal helping of Porcupine Tree, the result....... "TELOS" taken from forthcoming Between the Buried and Me album  "The Parallax II: Future Sequence" due for release on October 9th.

Based on this evidence, an album to reside in every metal fans collection. Truly, truly incredible.

TOM DELIVERS US FROM SUSPENSE

It's here......absolutely amazing new video from TOM WAITS and "Hell Broke Luce." Brilliantly dark and surreal as only Waits can do.
