According to the NME, two of the "most exciting bands in the world" head out on joint tour in July. Without an official release to their name and little available on the internet, SAVAGES and PALMA VIOLETS both, still creating a name for themselves on a national level.
Don't miss both bands whilst still playing intimate venues.
First round of album reviews for June, as we welcome into the Mudkiss fold, Lucy Holt, adding a welcome injection of additional female perspective to the site, next to regular contributor Lars plus a record destined to be one of my favourites of the year.
Another manic couple of months in the Mudkiss calendar, the reviews and interviews just keep on rolling. Check out the updates for May and June at the link below with the obligatory eclectic mix of styles and experience fully on show.
Included, the mature talents of Glen Matlock, P.P Arnold, The Buzzcocks and The Rezillos, mixed with the new kids, striving for their music to reach a deserved wider audience, Johnny Cola and the A Grades, Tom Williams and the Boat, Louise Distras and The Ruby's to name just a few.
Also, a selection of brilliant albums recently released, Richard Hawley, Gabby Young and Other Animals plus an excellent box set re-issue from the mighty Motorhead.
With less than a week to go before the release of debut album "Kodiak Bear" on June 18th, Blind Atlas unleash yet another stunning track and video on the unsuspecting music fan. The bands Neil Young influences to the fore in the country rock tones of "Brother Moon," incorporating an exquisite slide guitar sound alongside images of Jurassic proportions.
Yet another reason to make "Kodiak Bear" an essential purchase.
Manchester’s
own Anglo-American band Blind Atlas will release their debut album Kodiak
Bear on
the 18th June 2012. The same day they perform live in session for
‘Whispering’ Bob Harris’sBBC Radio 2 show.
The
album launch gig takes place on Wednesday 20th June at the Kings
Arms in Salford (doors
7:30pm). Special guests include Jo Dudderidge and Adam
P. Gorman (Travelling Band) with additional performances from African Drummers and a string quartet.
Brother Moon will be the lead radio track from the
album with another beautiful animation from collaborator Volkerfirma who have
also animated a video for the title track Kodiak Bear.
When it comes to influencesBlind Atlas will offer up the proverbial mixed bag,
citing everyone from
Neil Young, Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones to Calexico, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billyand the Grateful Dead. Hailing from Denver [Colorado USA] and disparate
points around the UK, Blind Atlas came together in the bohemian suburbs of
south Manchester; united by a shared preoccupation with drinking, failed
relationships and the Flying Burrito Brothers.

As a massive fan of Muse, the last two albums left me incredibly
disappointed. Am I setting myself up for a fall once more, or does the
dubstep ending to their trailer video for "The 2nd Law" signify a
welcome change in direction??
Muse have announced they will be playing live across the UK
and Europe this autumn. Tickets go on general sale on Thursday 14th
June. Full dates are listed below.
In
order to make sure that muse.mu members get the first and fairest
access to tickets for these dates we have launched a ticket application
system for a limited number of the standing tickets for each date.
The application process is open from now until 18:00 BST on Sunday 10th June.
During
this time muse.mu members will be able to apply for a maximum of four

When the application process closes, Muse Members will be verified,
