Pulled Apart by Horses - Live Review
I think youthful Mudkiss reporter Callum quite likes Pulled Apart by Horses and it's partial to a bit of The Computers as well. Check out his review straight from the mosh pit.

Mudkiss March album of the Month
There's nobody more suprised than me that my album of the month for March is the latest offering from rock veterans, Van Halen. This is however, beyond a return to form, it's a an absolute revelation, to the point, it's cool to like Van Halen all over again.........in my humble opinion.

Jamie N Commons - Wish You Were Here
I'm becoming more and more impressed with Jamie N Commons. Not usually a fan of covers, but here he takes one of my favourite songs of all time, puts his own bluesy slant on it, sounding exceptionally good. Such a great voice.
Sent my son off to watch him last night, instead of going myself. Mistake........
Check out his EP "The Baron"

Ticketholders also get free access to the new Jodrell Bank visitor centre and will be able to take part in experiments and workshops throughout the day.

CALM - Thirty One Album
Mudkiss sent Callum, one of their younger writers to a press conference about the release of the Thirty One Album, a compilation of Manchester artists for which all the proceeds go to CALM, a charity highlighting the fact suicide is the biggest killer of young men in the U.K and providing help and assistance before it's too late.
Here's a teenage perspective on the day and the CALM charity.

New Arctic Monkeys track - R U Mine?
Check out a brand new track from Arctic Monkeys "R U Mine." Maintaining the rockier elements of more recent material with Alex Turner continuing to mature as a vocalist and inclusive some interesting, falsetto backing vocals.
Perhaps not one that totally grips first time, but definitely a grower.

Kindest of Thieves - Ever the Optimist EP
Not only have Warrington's Kindest of Thieves, just released their new EP "Ever the Optimist," the young rascals have also made it available as a free download. Head to the link below and grab yourselves four tracks from one of the North West's freshest talents.
And you thought they don't write pop songs like this anymore, i.e, bloody good ones :)

Soulfly - "World Scum"
This is some seriously dark shit from Soulfly, with their video for "World Scum" and I include a warning this is certainly not for the faint of heart.
Typically brutal musically, with some genuinely disturbing images from Max Cavalera and cohorts .
New album "Enslaved" is due out on March 13th.

The Miserable Rich - New Video for "Oliver"
One of my favourite tunes from The Miserable Rich, "Oliver" becomes even better through
an extremely moving and thought provoking video directed by Marc Biedel, who edited Youtube footage from last year's riots to the song Ringing the Changes
This brilliant track is taken from 2nd album by The Miserable Rich "Of Flight and Fury"

Freedumb - The Freedumb Curse
An album released back at the beginning of 2010, which I've just come across.
Oslo trio, Freedumb, were together seven long years before
releasing their debut album, “The Freedumb Curse,” although the only curse
which appears to have hindered their musical output relates to a penchant for
beer rather than knuckling down and producing a record. Once the slacker
attitude rescinded, Torstein Eriksen and cohorts music proves far more urgent
and energetic than their early outlook may suggest.
The majority of the fourteen tracks, full on, in your face
thrash with added punk attitude and arrogance.
Lyrically songs move between English and their native Norwegian without
creating any loss of significance.
Similar to fellow countrymen Kvelertak, for
English speakers the quality of the music speaks far louder than unintelligible
words. “Mareritt” affords the only slight respite with an overall slower
tempo, leaning more towards Doom references, handled again with some aplomb.
“The Freedom Curse” is
a rock solid, infectious debut and I can only implore Freedumb not to take
seven years over the next record. With
appetite whetted, I’m already looking for more.

TOP HEAVY ROBOTS HEADING FOR THE BALEARICS?
Those galactic messengers Top Heavy Robots return after obviously frequenting warmer climes. February finds the Cosmic rapscallions emerging from the black hole of Winter, producing an interstellar dance track packed full of pulsing beats.
Where will they appear next? Based on this banging tune, The White Isle of Ibiza beckons.

Field Music - Plumb
Stream the new Field Music album in full at the NME. One of the North East's, nay Britains, nay the worlds most inventive bands, produce a beautifully melodic collection of songs in their own inimitable style. Last album "Measure" brought the band to a wider audience and "Plumb" can only increase their appeal. Truly in a class of their owm.

THE MARS VOLTA - NEW ALBUM
The Mars Volta, quite simply one of, if not, the most inventive band around release their 6th album "Noctourniquet" on March 27th.
A taster of the album is available on YouTube, "The Malkin Jewel" is a visceral piece of warped and wonderful genius. Disjointed rhythms underpin a typically eclectic sonic mix, within an enthralling although disquieting, just under five minutes.
We can only wonder what delights the full album will reveal next month.
