Manchester Metal Pt. 2

Part 2 of the recent Mudkiss interview, delving into the world of Manchester metal bands, including Spires, Wolfcrusher, Incassum and Not Above Evil along with PR / Management company Skratch the Surface.

Now I'm well áware metal isn't for everyone, but within these bands, they are some incredible musicians who really should reach a wider audience.

Just give these guys a listen, you might be surprised at what you hear.

Canadian metal - From Coast to Coast

As a comparison to the local Manchester metal scene, check out this compilation of Canadian Death Metal bands available as a free download.  There's some fantastically brutal material on here, proving our extreme brothers across the pond still have something to offer..

Album review - The Miserable Rich - Miss You in the Days.

Following on from the recent A-Z written by James of The Miserable Rich, here's my review of the new album.

http://www.mudkiss.com/andysoctalbumofthemonth.htm

And talking of the A-Z, we hit the midpoint of the The Miserable Rich A-Z, recording of new album "Miss You in the Days."  Do we perceive James feeling the pressure of such an epic portrayal?  And why do gastronomic Nazi's raise their ugly head in Norwich.

Read on.

Think of this as "The only way is Essex" without the white stillettos and set in Norfolk!!

The Miserable Rich - Miss You In The Days - A-Z

We're up to K & L within James De Maplaquet's A-Z of recording new album by The Miserable Rich, "Miss You in the Days." Read on to find out how who's "misdeeds are legend, his morals moribund, his merciless malignancy manifest" and why labradors, plus more football references constitute part of the musical equation.

And also check out, The Miserable Rich Ghost Hour Mix - For the 50th Circle mix, and in anticipation of the release of The Miserable Rich’s ghostly third album 'Miss You In The Days' and Halloween tour, the band’s singer James de Malplaquet has sourced some of the best ghost-themed songs and spooky instrumentals, and asked strangers and friends alike to tell him about their own supernatural experiences.

Cosmo Jarvis interview.

I certainly found out more about the workings of the mind of Cosmo Jarvis than I anticipated in my recent interview.  And, possibly more worringly, we had quite a bit in common.

The Miserable Rich - Miss You In The Days

Ever wondered about the workings of the musical mind, how a band goes about recording an album, the up's, the downs, the frustrations experienced whilst trying to bring a collection of songs to a conclusion. Well, here's your chance to access the inner sanctum.

In partnership with the wonderful The Miserable Rich, vocalist James de Malplaquet in particular, Mudkiss will be posting over the next couple of weeks, on an exclusive first read basis, an A-Z, written by James, outlining the recording process of the forthcoming, supernaturally influenced album "Miss You In the Days" released, aptly, on the 31st of October.

Also look out for the first single taken from the album, "On a Certain Night" available from October 24th.
